ABOUT THE BOOK:
For decades, many of us have concentrated on personal success at the price of our spirituality. Now, Dr. Linda Seger, a successful Hollywood insider who has dealt with the competition and worldly spirit of the film and television industry, reveals how you can attain your goals and desires without compromising your relationship with God. Dr. Seger tackles these important issues: how do you identify your calling? Handle risk? Cope with praise or blame? Identify and confront evil in our work? Deal with competition? Take the Leap of Faith? Meet and overcome the Seven Deadly Sins?
The book is based on her own experiences while trying to build her career as she became a world-renowned script consultant. She also interviewed over 30 people from all six continents and from the arts, the sciences, and business and reveals and identifies success and spirituality issues that have rarely been discussed before. The book won the “Enduring Light/ Inspirational” Illumination Book Award for Exemplary Christian writing.
Dr. Linda Seger has a background in both drama and theology. She has focused her career as an international script consultant, seminar leader in the area of screenwriting, and author of 9 books on screenwriting. In the last eight years, she has also been writing books on spirituality. Dr. Seger has built her business based on the spiritual principles in her books. She is dedicated to helping her clients express their spirituality through their writing and to deepening the themes and values found in films. She has long been interested in the relationship of spirituality and creativity. As a result of her broad religious background, she is able to nurture the spiritual values of others through her books and her public speaking.
This book really touches on many aspects of finding your calling and how do you know if that is what Jesus is calling you to? It really will get you thinking and pondering many areas in your life.
What are you doing? Do you feel you are doing what God has called you to do? And if not, why? This book will encourage you to examine these questions and so much more.
Overall, I really did enjoy this book, it really was much more “spiritual” than I was anticipating. I thought it might be a bit dry but it really wasn’t.
My only question or concern might be things seemed very “spiritual” but not really talking about Jesus a whole lot. I guess that could have been to make this book more open to other religions but I guess my thought it if I’m a Christian that is the only belief I want to write about and I want to bring God more glory by sharing Jesus with others.
But I really did enjoy the book and it gave me so much to think about.
