About:

Cline Grant, a man with a checkered past turned preacher has dedicated the last ten years of his life to making up for past sins. But when he is faced with removing a young girl from her abusive uncle he must face the calling he never expected. He escapes with the young girl to the safety of a small town until a beautiful and dedicated social worker asks too many questions, questions that put his faith to the ultimate test.

Kinley Stafford refuses to accept the new preacher’s credentials as a father because he claims to be a man of faith, not after she failed to protect a boy only months earlier from a dead-beat dad. And when the preacher’s little girl runs away, Kinley makes it her personal mission to expose whatever secrets Preacher Cline is hiding.

My thoughts:

I came upon this book as I was browsing through Netgalley. I had never heard of this author or this series but I was intrigued so I requested it.

I have to say I was really impressed and surprised I hadn’t heard of this author before. This was a book with a lot of depth and layers. The cast of characters was very interesting and fun.

Kinley was a very sympathetic character with wounds she needs to overcome. I was so worried about what would happen when she discovered Cline’s secret, which he was keeping for good reason. I could only hope she would understand and help him.

I will definitely be on the lookout for more books like this and from this author.

I love the cover of this book. It looks so much like the downtown areas of cities here in east TN!
