Defeat the Unknown Enemy in Your Home
WHETHER YOU’VE INHERITED THEM, welcomed them, befriended them, or paid homage to them, demonic spirits can become so familiar that you don’t notice they’re there. They operate under cover in our everyday lives, giving the enemy access points into our homes.
The truth is, familiar spirits might be the source of the problems you’ve been facing. Many of the reasons people go through battles in their lives are connected to the dark side. You may never experience any dramatic manifestations of the enemy’s influence, but subtle activity can be just as damaging. These familiar spirits could eventually deter you from becoming all that God wants you to be.
Enough is enough. When it comes to the enemy, it’s time to stop hiding him out and start taking him out. Breaking the Power of Familiar Spirits shines light on the evil influences that sneak in through a back door. Discover how the enemy has taken up residence in your home and caused hindrances and havoc in your life. Come against any mind-binding or mind-blinding spirits that try to control your thinking, and defeat them through the power of God.
My thoughts:
This was very interesting. The author talks about a lot of things that we have come to just accept as life. Things I wasn’t even aware that has a root in the demonic.
Something she talked about really has me thinking and I will be praying about this, but it was generational curses or sin. I know there is stuff from my family. I don’t know if I can identify the specific one but it is something I need to give consideration to as I see things rising up in my children as well.
Here is a quote I highlighted from the book, “Truth that comes from God does not just inform you; it makes you free!”
There were some things that maybe I have become desensitized to but I also don’t want to be looking for an evil spirit around every corner. It almost seemed like we need to denounce everything even if we don’t use it or say it in away that really means anything. I understand the authors point but sometimes I think we can become a bit extreme as well. I might be wrong, I guess I really need to pray about these things and be open to what Holy Spirit is telling me.

I do agree that there are spiritual things (warfare) going on behind the scenes that we are often not aware of. I recently read C.S. Lewis book The Screwtape Letters which opened my eyes again to the subtle (and not so subtle) ways of the enemy. I do think we should be aware and fight the spiritual battle, without becoming paranoid about what we might not be aware of. We can pray for God to bring things to light, but He also gives us a spirit of peace and protection.
This sounds like such a thought-provoking read!
