This Sunday, February 12, Patrick and I will be sharing our Genesis 5020 story with our church family. If you are reading this and live local, feel free to attend one of our services at elem3nt chruch to hear the story first hand.

Services times are:

9:00 Blissfield Campus

10:00 Adrian Campus

11:15 Blissfield Campus

After Sunday I will start posting our story in installments on this blog. There is so much to tell, I can’t write everything in one post. I will also be talking about the many layers of the story that we won’t have time for on Sunday.

The verse I am holding on to this week: Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me for you are good, O Lord. Psalm 25:7

I know God will be faithful, He always is. My prayer is that He will be glorified, He is so good.

Check back weekly, or subscribe so you don’t miss any of God’s story.

Have you ever had to share something really big with anyone? Were you nervous, excited, both?

Accidentally on Purpose February 3, 2012

Last week I wrote about Genesis 50:20. Genesis 50:20 is my life verse, it is what I believe God has done in my life.

Today, since this is still all new, I would like to share with you my ministry verse. The verse I am going to share with you happened accidentally. I was memorizing Colossians 2:2-3 when I started my course with the Christian Writers Guild. One of my first assignments was to come up with a purpose, or a focus, for my writing. I instantly knew the verse I was in the mist of memorizing would be the perfect statement.

My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.         Colossians 2: 2-3 NIV

For me the “they” in that verse is women. I desire for women to be united in love. I desire for women to know the riches of God’s love, the mystery of it all. I love the thought that all treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him. When you look for a treasure you know you have to dig, you must search. Treasures aren’t usually lying around. Wisdom and knowledge are two treasures worth digging for. I want to take women on a treasure hunt!

Now that I think about it, I doubt I accidentally found my purpose, God doesn’t have accidents. No, instead I think found my focus accidentally on purpose, that sounds like something God would do.

I don’t have all the answers, not even close,  but I am enjoying the journey. I pray that through my writing and my ministry that more and more women will come to know the God I know; who is big enough to handle anything, yet closer than my next breath.

How about you? Do you have a life verse? A ministry verse? Or maybe you have a verse you are clinging to right now, please share down in the comments.

My First Post-What you can expect January 27, 2012

Hi everyone, thank you for taking time to check out my new blog. Today’s post will be longer then I normally plan on writing but I want to give you a bit of an idea of you can expect when you visit my blog.

First, be sure to sign-up to receive my updates by entering your email on the right side of this page. Although I do usually write for women my wonderful husband (Patrick) is planning on popping in once in a while so I hope you men who are reading this might find his thoughts useful and stick around.

Also, I have a blogroll of blogs I follow that I thought you might enjoy as well. Feel free to give them a look.

Why 5020genesis?

I actually wanted Genensis5020 but WordPress didn’t have that available so 5020genesis it is. Anyway, a quick background on what that means. This verse stems from the story of Joseph in the Bible. Most of you remember Joseph, he was sold into slavery by his brothers, accused of hitting on the wife of his boss, thrown in prison, and forgotten by the men he helped out. Then he was given a place of authority in Egypt and many lives were saved because of him and the wisdom God gave him. His brothers came to Egypt to buy food and after Joseph messed with them a little (gotta love that) he revealed himself to them. His brothers were concerned that Joseph might hold a grudge but Joseph says in Genesis 50:20: You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

You see, things have happened in my life that could have destroyed me. The enemy wanted these things to harm me and they did for many, many years. I will share all of this with you after Patrick and I have had a chance to share our story with our church family, this should be happening very soon. When it does I will post the story here so those of you who don’t attend our church can hear our Genesis 5020. That is the basis for this blog. Had it not been for my “stuff” I wouldn’t be writing this right now. Because of the harmful things that happened in my life God has guided me to this point in time and I believe He will use my pain to help others.  There is SO much to tell I can’t wait to share it with you. After I have shared I would love to start hearing some of your Genesis 5020 stories.

How often will I be writing?

At first I am going to write once a week. But I have a feeling that won’t last too long and I will be increasing my frequency. You can expect a post every Friday for the time being.

What will I be writing about on this blog?

  • As stated above, Genesis 5020 will be the driving force. Sharing stories about God’s work in my life and marriage. Those posts will be similar to what I share on Sunday mornings during our worship time at elem3nt church.
  • Progress on my writing. I am currently working on a novel, tentatively titled A Bridge of Promise. I won’t write about it now but I would love to share this writing journey with you.
  • Hopefully I can get my hubby to pipe in and share a man’s perspective on marriage and a love relationship with the Lord.
  • I am all about giving stuff away. I am planning on giving away books every once in a while. They might be books I have read, or that are on my wish list and want to read. I will try to do fiction and nonfiction. I know I have some friends who prefer nonfiction.

That is about all I have right now. But I would love to know what you think. Is there something you want me to blog about? Am I covering things you would be interested in? Let me know your thoughts in the comments. I am open to suggestions.

Thank you all for taking this journey with me. I can’t wait to see what God has planned.
