Tell us about yourself, family, where are you from, how long have you been writing?
I grew up in Western Oklahoma on a farm where we raised wheat, cattle, and hogs. Now I live near the city of Houston, Texas. I’ve been married for thirty-five years to Peter Higman, and we have two married children. I have been writing for thirty years, and I have forty books published. To be honest about my career, I have known a lot of failure before I ever knew any success, but that is a common tale among writers.
How did you come to know Jesus as your Savior?
I accepted Christ when I was a wee girl, and He has been my dearest friend all these years.
Tell us about your latest book(s). What do want your readers to take away after the last page?
Here’s a short blurb about my new novel entitled, Summer’s List. I am hoping readers will be entertained, challenged, and inspired.

How often do you blog and what do you cover in your blog?
I used to do a very short blog on my website, but I noticed it was taking time away from my other writing. So, eventually it got put aside just like I’ve had to lessen my time doing social media. Some things are good to do, but even the good things in life can keep us from doing what God has truly called us to do.
Can you share with us a favorite book you have read?
Recently I read Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. It’s a masterwork—a true story about slavery in America—and a book that everyone should read.
Can you share with us a Genesis 5020 in your life?
Growing up on a farm in Oklahoma may sound idyllic, but I had kind of a rough ride. Not because of the hard work. That part was good. I guess you could say that I was emotionally injured because I grew up in a dysfunctional family. There was a lack of normalcy, affection, and positive influences. However, God saw fit to take these hurts from my youth and redeem them, using them for good as he promises in His Word. God knew that I could be healed from these emotional afflictions by transforming my childhood pain into art and then releasing it out into the world to help others. God gave me the ability to be a writer, and this gift from Him has made all the difference.
