Guest Post from Dana

Writing this book was bittersweet for me. It was lovely to finally be able to tell youngest Thorn brother Keegan’s story, but I sure am sorry to say goodbye to this series! It was such fun to write about these four kinsmen and the family bonds that held them together through all manner of murder and mayhem! Here at Mentink Manor, we have recently sent a bear cub away to college for the first time. It feels like I have lost a limb now that my Boo Boo is gone! Fortunately, we will enjoy having her home for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Though it won’t be a cozy country Christmas like it is for Keegan (we live in a city of 80,000 here in Northern, CA) we will be thrilled to have all our family home to celebrate together (Mama Bear, Papa Bear, two cubs, a naughty terrier, and a senior citizen box turtle!) I hope you enjoy this last installment in the Gold Country Cowboy series. I am sending along our best wishes for a blessed holiday season, from our Mentink household to yours!

My thoughts:
I have had the privilege of reading every book in this series and it has turned me into a Dana Mentink fan. If her name is on the cover I am reading it.
I have thoroughly enjoyed each book in this series and I couldn’t wait to read Keegan’s story because I knew it would be a good one. The woman who captured his heart would have to be special and Tracy was that.
I loved her grumpy grandpa as well 🙂
It was nice catching up with the characters in the previous books and seeing where their relationship where at as well.
This is a story of redemption and healing broken pasts. I wonderful read!

Guest Post from Dana Mentink

I’ve spent a bit of time in emergency rooms lately. Not to complain, mind you. The asthma related treatments worked like a charm and we were blessed by good care, so I am not grateful. There’s a bonus, too. The emergency room is a great place for people watching! Hour upon hour I spent surveying patients, relatives, nurses and doctors. I came away pondering what it must be like to work in the strange bustle that is an emergency room. That’s where character Shannon Livingston was born.

The E.R doc and nurses must be brilliant problem solvers with nerves of steel because they never know what will roll through their doors. Since they are not responsible for follow up care, they have only a short term relationship with their patients. But what would happen, my fictional mind wanted to know, if one emergency room treatment ensnared Shannon in a “run for your life” scenario? And what if her incredible life saving skills weren’t nearly enough to save her own life, or the baby she’s suddenly become responsible for? Ah me! The perfect scenario for a suspense novel, no? I hope you enjoy Cowboy Bodyguard. I can promise it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

My thoughts:

I have read every book in this series and truly enjoyed them all. I am hoping we get to hear Keegan’s story next 🙂 He is such a live-wire.

Anyway, this crazy  marriage of Jack and Shannon is sure heated.

Jack is so strong and stable, and his faith is genuine. He truly loves Shannon and my heart broke for him on several occasions when she pushed him away.

Shannon is a hurt young woman who thinks she can earn her father’s love by being good enough. She is striving to prove her worth when she is already made worthy by the work Jesus did on the cross.

The suspense in this book is good too, danger around every corner.

My thoughts:

What a great read. Action packed from the very beginning.

Ella is a character I easily came to care about. I liked the fact that she had a past she knew she had be forgiven for but still struggled with the shame of it, as so many of us do.

Owen, too, has his own struggles but is such a strong and wonderful hero.

From the beginning it is pretty clear what is going on, but things keep going wrong and turning around to make Ella look like the murderer.

A very good read. I highly recommend this one.

Howdy, readers! I am thrilled to be bringing you this four book Gold Country Cowboys series that takes place in an area near and dear to my heart! My family and I have enjoyed many adventures in this amazing area, from exploring gold mines, to climbing through caverns, and soaking in the incredible history. As a matter of fact, we recently enjoyed a train trip on the historic V and T Railroad which took us past abandoned mines and even some active ones where people are engaged in modern day treasure hunting. California’s Gold Country is a fascinating place filled with secret treasures. I hope you will enjoy some wild adventures with four cowboy brothers who have some secrets of their own. God bless you all!

My thoughts:

What a great book. I really enjoyed this story with the suspense and romance, each were done very well and didn’t take away from the other.

The tension between Shelby and Barrett made for an interesting read and they were constantly being thrown together in life and death situations.

My mind kept trying to figure out who was after Shelby, could it be the obvious choice or someone who is more sneaky? You will just have to read the book to find out.

This is a great Christmas read with suspense thrown in, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
