About:

Danni Kemp fears she’s being stalked—but the truth is much more deadly. Her new fiancé, Robert Evans, has a dangerous secret. The homeless man who is stalking her, Caleb Samuels, may prove to be her only escape from a hidden danger. Will she discover in time that neither Rob nor Caleb are what they appear to be and the one person she fears most may be the one person she needs to trust?

My thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book. There was really never a dull moment, the author kept the story line flowing and interesting.

Danni frustrated me at times with her too trusting spirit when it came to Rob and her wishy-washy choices when it came to being with him. However, with that being said I could see me doing the same thing, so can’t be too hard on her.

Caleb is an interesting character who I couldn’t help rooting for.

Jaycee was a fun character. I appreciated her faith and her loyalty to Danni.

Overall a very good read.

About:

With three rambunctious, young children, Melanie Lombardi can’t see beyond the day-to-day struggle to maintain her home and her sanity since her husband’s sudden death. A second chance at romance isn’t on her radar.

Brian Perella is done with dating, resigned to being the fun uncle and never the dad. Until he meets Melanie and her brood of lively kids on the sidelines of a Little League game.

But when Brian uncovers a co-worker’s secret, it re-ignites a temptation that Melanie can’t know about. It’s his secret to keep until an unexpected diagnosis brings everything to the surface, jeopardizing his future with Melanie and her children, who, when threatened by an unknown stalker, may need him now more than ever.

My thoughts:

You never know what to expect when you pick up a book by an author your have never heard of. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this highly engaging book.

Carolyn has written a very real book. Some people might be bothered by the “realness”. The brothers talk to each other like brothers might, and Brian is dealing with an issue that is very prevalent in this day and age.

Melanie has her own issues that she confesses to Brian that I never saw coming, but an issue I can definitely relate to.

And then Brian’s diagnosis is so heart breaking and I understand the desicion he made but I felt Melanie’s pain.

We don’t find out much about this stalker for a long time. The reader knows something is up for Brian and Melanie don’t seem to be worried about it.

If you are looking a book that is real and deals with real issues I highly recommend this one.

My thoughts:

This is the second book I have read in this series. Like the first it is different then I expect from Susan but I did like. It actually liked it more then the other book I read.

This time we get to know Coco more and she has a secret that could change Wyatt’s life forever.

The heat between these two was hot as well, especially with their past.

Still a few writing style things that grate my nerves in this one, like the other, unnecessary words in my opinion.

But an engaging story that I enjoyed.

About:

Family…country…or the woman he loves…

Navy Seal Ford Marshall isn’t the kind to stand by and let a woman get hurt—especially when it involves his twin sister, RJ. So, when she makes the news, accused of sparking an international incident, he doesn’t care what it takes—he’s going to find her and bring her home.

But he might need a little help, so he calls on the woman who has had his back during the last three years—Petty Officer Scarlett Hathaway, former communications expert-turned Rescue Swimmer candidate. She’ll help him get into the country, watch his back, and…well, they might be able to have one last mission together before she leaves for a new life, a life he very much wants to be a part of now that she is off his team. Maybe he can convince her to give them a chance to kindle the spark that’s simmered between them for years.

Scarlett Hathaway isn’t sure what future she wants—not when she suddenly has to care for her little brother. Maybe she should quit the Navy and start a life with the man she can’t seem to get out of her heart. So yes, she’ll help Ford find his sister. And maybe, along the way, figure out if they have a future.

But finding RJ somewhere in the vastness of Russia with the FSB chasing them will push Scarlett beyond even her courage and make her question everything she thought she wanted…including Ford. What will it cost her to love a man who saves the world?

And when Ford is asked to choose between saving his sister, saving the world from a war, and rescuing the woman he loves…can he live with his decision?

The third book in the Montana Marshalls series will leave you breathless!

My thoughts:

I have read a couple of other books by Susan but I haven’t read any in this series. This is very different from what I expected and I liked it.

This is really a romantic suspense kind of book. There is definitely a lot going on with many different characters involved.

I enjoyed the different story lines which all end up merging together. My only pet peeve with the book was sometimes the writing style got under my skin like, yeah, stuff like that. Too many “yeah” pauses. Which I get that is how we talk often but I don’t like reading how I talk. It was unnecessary words IMO. But once I got used to the fact that that was Susan’s style I was able to settle into the book and enjoy it.

So Bright a Hope reviewer tour

About:

When Caroline Whitney receives word that the brother she thought was dead is in fact a prisoner of war, she is frantic to rescue him. On the way to find help, she hides from the Redcoats, but is quickly discovered by a rugged British soldier who claims she must go with him, or be tried for espionage. The world would tell her this man is the enemy, but the veiled secrets in her captor’s eyes reveal he is more than he seems. If she fails to trust, more could be endangered than her life—her heart is bound to be broken a second time.

As a double agent in the service of Washington, British Captain James Higley must keep his true convictions a secret or face being killed as a traitor. On his newest mission, he discovers a courageous woman hiding in a barn, and is forced to capture her, or both their lives will be in jeopardy. When she offers her compliance in exchange for help in finding her brother, he accepts, despite his inner warnings. He must keep his distance from this alluring Patriot, or risk revealing not only his identity, but the true feelings of his heart.

My thoughts:

What a great read. I thoroughly enjoyed this story by a new-to-me author.

First, I was drawn in by the cover, I think it is just beautiful.

But the most important part is the story and whether that can keep my attention and that it did.

The romance was spicy and I loved it. Amber knows how to write a good kissing scene.

Caroline was a strong young woman and I appreciated her perseverance even when things looked horrible.

And James, well, he was just a perfect hero. I kept wanting him to tell Caroline that he was a spy so they could know they were on the same side, but all in good time 🙂

Review and Giveaway: When the Heart Sings by Liz Tolsma November 27, 2018

when the heart sings blog tour (1)

About:

Natia has a secret—and she’s hiding him right beneath her captor’s nose.

In 1943 Poland, the Nazis have forced Natia and Teodor from their peaceful farm to the harsh confines of a labor camp. When the couple is separated, Natia is chosen to be the housekeeper for the camp’s overseer, and Teodor is sent to work in the factory. Despite the strict camp rules—and the consequences for disobeying them—Natia finds a way to communicate with Teodor by sending messages through song as she passes Teodor’s dormitory.

The stakes get higher when Natia finds a Jewish orphan on the overseer’s doorstep. She is determined to protect the boy and raise him as the child she and her husband were unable to bear—but if her German captors discover how much she’s hiding, both she and Teodor may pay the ultimate price. . .

My thoughts and giveaway:

I have adored Liz’s books but haven’t read any in a couple of years. I missed the first book in this series, unfortunately.

I love the look she takes at WWII and the many layers that were happening during that time. I have learned so much by reading her books. I honestly didn’t realize the scope of Germany’s reach and all the lives they ruined, or tried to.

This is book beautiful. Natia is a heartbreaking character and mother’s or those who wish to be will identify with her. Teodor is a strong man and only wants his family reunited.

I, of course, enjoy the inclusion of music in this book. If you like stories based in WWII times you will appreciate this book.
