About:

Failure isn’t an option

US Marshal Madison James may not be sure who shot her three months ago, but she does know one thing–it’s time to get back out into the field. When her partner, Jonas Quinn, receives a message that a federal warrant just came in on a man connected to a string of bank robberies, Madison jumps at the chance to get back to work. What she and Jonas find is a bank robbery gone wrong–and things are about to get complicated.

For these bank robbers, it’s never been about the money. It’s about taking risks and adrenaline rushes, and getting caught is not part of the game. When the suspects escape, Madison and Jonas must hunt them down and bring them to justice before someone else–someone close to them–gets hurt . . . or worse.

My thoughts:

This is the second book in this series. I loved the first one so I was eager to read this one.

This is a good one too, although I don’t think I liked it as much as the first. But it was non-stop action. I also like how Lisa is weaving the romance throughout all of the books. Our two main characters have a growing affection for each other but it isn’t happening in one book, which honestly, makes it more realistic.

In the first book was get hints about what happened to Madison’s husband and in this book that develops even more. I am assuming in the next week we will get the full story and I am sure that will be very interesting.

About:

How do you catch a fugitive who has nothing to lose?

US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn have orders to transport two high-profile prisoners across the country on a private plane. But when the plane experiences engine trouble en route from the Pacific Northwest to Colorado, the pilots crash-land the aircraft deep in the heart of the sprawling Salmon-Challis National Forest.

With both pilots and one prisoner dead–and one fugitive on the run–Madison and Jonas must negotiate the rugged and remote backcountry as they track a murderer who is desperate to disappear . . . and will do anything to stop them.

My thoughts:

This was a great read. Fast-paced and a great start to a series that Lisa has created a thread that will pull the reader right into the next book.

I loved that the romance wasn’t rushed, it made it much more believable and gives it room to grow in the upcoming books.

Lisa had me guessing about Barrick’s motives, was he truly innocent and wrongly accused or was he a really good liar? You’ll have to read it to find out and I highly recommend do.

About:

Join the hunt for the truth–and a traitor

When FBI agent Jack Shannon arrives in Corpus Christi, Texas, he is focused on one thing: find the man who has been selling encrypted government secrets to the Chinese. But when a senator is shot during a hunting trip and the woman he was with is abducted, Jack agrees to join the search–especially when he discovers that the kidnapping victim is Aubrey Grayson, a woman he was once in love with.

As the search continues, it becomes clear the senator may not have been the intended victim–and Aubrey may be connected to the other case Jack is supposed to be working on. Can Jack untangle the knots before it’s too late? And when he learns the truth, will it be too painful to get past?

My thoughts:

Lisa Harris always comes up with interesting plots. This was a very different one with a lot involved. I honestly didn’t know who to trust and what was really going on. She kept surprising me until the end.

With that being said this wasn’t one of my favorite books by Lisa. A lot of the dialogue seemed repetitive, that characters said the same thing several times to the same person. That happened more towards the beginning, the end didn’t seem to do that as much.

I didn’t really love the romance in this one. Aubrey seemed totally clueless about any romantic feelings that Jack might have had and I didn’t get a sense that she returned them until the end.

As always, this is my opinion only.

About:

Six girls missing . . . and every clue leads to a dead end

During Garrett Addison’s first week on the job as a criminal investigator for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, his team is called out to a murder scene of a young girl. She’s just one in a string of disappearances with one thing in common–a Polaroid photo of each victim left behind at the crime scene.

The FBI is pulled into the case to help, and Garrett finds himself working with Special Agent Jordan Lambert, the woman he once loved. When yet another girl dies, Garrett wonders whether he really has what it takes to be an agent. Maybe he should just walk. But while he may be done with the killer, the killer is not done with him–or Jordan.

My thoughts and giveaway:

Oh.My. This book was un-put-downable. So good.

I wasn’t sure what was going one at first and it irritated me. I got over it though. This is the forth book in this series and I have read the first two.

This book starts back several years before the first two with different main characters so I was confused about where this was going, but after I started reading it made perfect sense.

There is so much tension, questions, frustration.

I loved Garrett and Jordan’s journey that carries on through the book unresolved but no in an annoying way, it was completely believable.

I could go on and on but this is an amazing book. You can definitely read this as a stand-alone even though it is part of the series. I highly recommend this one.

About:

Nikki Boyd’s flight into Nashville was routine–until the crash landing at the airport.

When the dust settles, Nikki discovers that the woman who had been seated next to her on the plane is missing–and no one will admit she was ever there. When she learns that Erika Hamilton had been flying to Nashville with an air marshal as a key witness in an upcoming grand jury trial, Nikki wonders if her disappearance from the crash site means she’s running from trouble–or straight into it. Before Nikki can even see her family, she and her team are pulled into a missing persons case where the motives are as unclear as the suspects.

Bestselling and award-winning author Lisa Harris has planted danger around every turn in this can’t-put-it-down thrill ride that will leave you stunned.

My thoughts and giveaway:

I love Lisa Harris’s book, she never disappoints me. This book was no exception.

She has written a great book full of romance, suspense and mystery. I never had a dull moment while reading. Even in the moments that weren’t filled with fast-paced tension we were in the mind of Nikki and getting a deeper look at all that was going on with her and her struggles.

This is the third book in the series, however, I do think you could read this one as a stand-alone but I think it might be easier to follow if you had read the first two.

There is definitely a lot of fishy stuff going on and I even began to wonder who could Nikki really trust. The people she should have been able to seemed to be holding back on her.

The mystery of Nikki’s sister is in this one still, lingering and I hope to see it resolved soon. I keep thinking there isn’t much hope of Sarah being alive, but ya know never what Lisa will cook up in her next book and how she will resolve this crime.

If you love romantic suspense I am sure you will enjoy this book.

vendetta

About:

“Filled with red herrings and heart-pounding danger, Vendetta will leave readers anxiously awaiting Nikki Boyd’s next adventure.”–Irene Hannon, bestselling author of the Private Justice series

No one needs to push Nikki Boyd to excel on the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force. The case of her own missing sister, still unsolved after ten years, is the driving force in her work. When a Polaroid photo of a missing girl shows up at a crime scene, Nikki quickly recognizes similarities to the past. The closer she gets to the abductor, the more she feels this case has become personal, and she is not the hunter . . . but the hunted.

With this explosive first book in The Nikki Boyd Files, award-winning author Lisa Harris takes you on a fast-paced pursuit of justice that will have you holding your breath until the heart-stopping finish.

My thoughts and giveaway:

I really enjoyed Lisa’s previous series so I was very excited to read this new one.

I will say the first couple of chapters didn’t really grab me but then…I was hooked and I didn’t want to put the book down.

Chapter after chapter of new twists, turns and dangers. The stakes constantly being raised. And the personal connection Nikki has with the case she is working on will have you sitting at the edge of your seat and up way past your bedtime.

Lisa is a wonderful storyteller and this newest book will not disappoint.

About:

His cover is blown. Now his enemies are on his heels and closing in.

Presumed dead by friends and family, Michael Hunt is alive–and on the run. Presumed dead by friends and family, the undercover assignment he’s been working for the past eight months has just been blown. With a hit out on his life and corruption inside the Atlanta police department, Michael finds himself hunted by both the cartel and the law. His only hope is Olivia Hamilton–the daughter of the man who wants him dead.

This nonstop chase from Christy Award-winning Lisa Harris will leave you breathless.

My thoughts and giveaway:

Lisa has written another fast-paced adventure. I love it/hate it when an author writes her characters into a corner and the reader sees no way out. So many times in this book I thought, there’s no way they can get out of this. Or, how will Lisa get them out of this mess? Who can they trust?

This book follows the Hunt family. Michael has been presumed dead by this family. In the first book in this series we met Avery who was determined to prove her brothers innocence. She had a lot of anger towards others who thought he was guilty and people she blamed for his death.

In this book we finally meet Michael, but the evidence doesn’t look good. He looks very guilty. Only those who really know him and his heart know he’s innocent.

Olivia is our heroine and a lovely one she is. However, she is Michael’s enemy’s daughter. I kept wondering if she is faced with choosing between the two who will she choose?

I enjoyed the slow romance that built between our two characters and all the subtexting about why it would never work between them yet they couldn’t fight their attraction.

This book can be read as a stand-alone, so have no fear if you haven’t read the first two, although you will have a better understanding of all the pieces to the puzzle as they come together.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a nail-biter with romance. Truly a page turner.

fatal exchange

About:

Desperate times create desperate people. And desperate people are dangerous . . .

Though Emily Hunt comes from a family of cops, the relatively quiet life of a high school teacher suits her just fine. She’s saving up to buy a house, slowly moving forward after her brother’s death, and settling into a life she loves. So the last person she wants to spend time with is Mason Taylor.

An undercover cop, Mason is enemy number one as far as her family is concerned. His involvement in the death of Emily’s brother is still up in the air, and now he expects her to help him with a case. Mason has been working with one of her students, Rafael Cerda, whose brother has been kidnapped by a drug cartel. And with time running out to meet their demands, Rafael is getting desperate.

Emily will have to draw on all of her strength to handle what happens next . . .

Fatal Exchange
will draw you into a complex matrix of intertwining lives, unraveling secrets, and unexpected love.

My thoughts and giveaway:

I reviewed the first book in this series awhile ago. You can read that review here.

This is a book that didn’t grab me in the first chapter but I am so glad I kept reading because once the roller coaster started I didn’t want to get off.

I didn’t even see the twists and turns coming in this book but I loved each and everyone.

What I loved best were the nuggets of truth I could find in this book. Rafael is Emily’s student. She knows this boy and the boy she knows wouldn’t so the things he is doing. It finally comes to light that he is probably being manipulated to do these horrible things. He is being told lies and he knows no way to escape.

How true this rings for us. We can let the enemy get into our ears and turn us into someone we were never meant to be but we start to believe that’s who we are. We do things that will have deadly consequences and we can’t see anyway out.

Thankfully, we have a redeemer who can remind us who we are and people in our lives to speak truth to us, just as Rafael does in Emily and Mason. There might still be consequences but when we walk in the truth we will feel so much better.

This is a great book for those who like suspense with a touch of romance. I think I liked this one even better than the first. And you can read the second without reading that first, I don’t think you will feel lost at all.
