Discover a treasure worth more than all the pirate gold in the world

Anne Norris moved to Savannah, Georgia, for a fresh start. Now her pirate-tour business is flagging and paying the rent requires more than wishful thinking. When she discovers evidence of a shipwreck off the coast of Tybee Island, she knows it could be just the boon she needs to stay afloat. She takes her findings to local museum director Carter Hale for confirmation, but things do not go as planned.

Carter is fascinated with the wreck, the discovery of which could open the door to his dream job at a prestigious museum. But convincing Anne to help him fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle is no easy task. And working with Carter means that Anne will have to do the one thing she swore she’d never do again: trust a man.

My thoughts and giveaway:

I haven’t read a book by Liz in awhile so I was eager to pick this one up.

What a lovely setting for a book to take place. I loved Anne’s backstory, something that would definitely cause a woman not to trust a man again.

Carter is a great guy, trying to find his own way, a part from a family that doesn’t agree with the path he has chosen.

We also get a bit of a time-hop in this book as we read the dairy that Carter found.

This book wasn’t my favorite but it was good, well-written, just not as exciting (I guess for lack of a better word) as I wanted it to be, but still a good read.

Trapped at sea for a Christmas cruise wedding when criminals board and take over the ship, the navy SEAL best man, Jordan Somerton, and DEA agent maid of honor, Amy Delgado, must work together to stop the would-be kidnappers from leaving with Amy’s young niece.

My thoughts:

This one is a nail-biter. From the beginning until the end you never knew what was going to happen.

Amy is a strong woman, who will do what needs to be done to protect those she loves and Jordan is a strong man that will do what needs to be done to protect those HE loves, even those he doesn’t realize he might love.

If you are looking for a suspenseful Christmas read, this one is for you.

In her kitchen at Rose’s Red Door Inn, executive chef Caden Holt is calm, collected, and competent. But when her boss asks her to show off their beautiful island to impress a visiting travel writer and save the inn, Caden is forced to face a world much bigger than her kitchen–and a man who makes her wish she was beautiful.

Journalist Adam Jacobs is on a forced sabbatical on Prince Edward Island. He’s also on assignment to uncover a story. Instead he’s falling in love with the island’s red shores and Caden’s sweets.

When Caden discovers Adam isn’t who she thought he was, she realizes that the article he’s writing could do more than ruin the inn’s chances for survival–it might also break her heart.

My thoughts and giveaway:

I read the first book in this series and LOVED it so I couldn’t wait to read this next installment. I am happy to say the wait was worth it. This book is just as good.

I loved visiting Prince Edward Island again, is sounds so beautiful and seeing it through Caden’s eyes as she shows Adam around the island.

I could so relate to Caden and her insecurities. She is constantly concerned what others think about her, I have struggled with that a lot. I also enjoyed the fact that Caden wasn’t a super skinny character like most are. She carries some extra weight like most of us who read the books 🙂 She was very real.

Adam has his own demons he is wrestling and they aren’t as easily identifiable. Liz slowly reveals Adam’s brokenness.

There is so much going on in this book that will keep you reading, there is never a dull moment. If you enjoy contemporary romance I am sure you will like this one.

the red door

The Red Door Inn took my breath away! Highly recommended!”–Colleen Coble, author ofThe Inn at Ocean’s Edge and the Hope Beach series

Marie Carrington is broke, desperate, and hoping to find sanctuary on Prince Edward Island while decorating a renovated bed-and-breakfast. Seth Sloane moved three thousand miles to help restore his uncle’s Victorian B and B–and to forget about the fiancée who broke his heart. He wasn’t expecting to have to babysit a woman with a taste for expensive antiques and a bewildering habit of jumping every time he brushes past her.

The only thing Marie and Seth agree on is that getting the Red Door Inn ready to open in just two months will take everything they’ve got–and they have to find a way to work together. In the process, they may find something infinitely sweeter than they ever imagined on this island of dreams.

My thoughts:

I had never read anything by Liz before. I honestly got her confused with another author when I requested this book. I have to say I am so glad I made that mistake because I might not have requested it otherwise.

I really enjoyed this story. The setting is amazing (Prince Edward Island), almost as wonderful at my favorite vacation spot (Mackinac Island).

It’s clear from the beginning that Marie is broken, the question is what broke her? Liz does a great job of slowly revealing her wounds.

Seth’s wounds are revealed a bit sooner which helps us to better understand where he is coming from in his distrust of Marie.

Marie questions God and whether He still hears her. Who hasn’t been there? I know I have.

There are many other great characters in this story that round out the whole plot and I am very excited to meet up with them again in the next book that will come out in the fall.

I have found a new author to keep an eye. If you enjoy a good romance with a lot of depth then this is a book you will enjoy.
