Declare God’s Word for Supernatural Breakthrough
The spiritual exercise of making decrees finds its precedent in both Old and New Testaments–the practice of simply quoting God’s promises back to Him, “reminding” Him of what He has said. This kind of prayer is one of the most vital forms of intercession. In fact, the practice of decreeing God’s Word not only builds our faith but transforms our lives.
In this powerful and enlightening book, bestselling author Patricia King helps you grasp the significant impact of inspired and finely tuned prayer. King explains how to
· find specific promises in Scripture for your need
· counter problems with God’s Word
· speak the truth of Scripture with confidence
· understand the difference between confessing the Word, proclaiming the Word and decreeing the Word
· and more
Accept the challenge to decree the words of Scripture boldly–in God’s timing, and for His will and purposes to break forth in your life.
Disclaimer: A few weeks ago I watched American Gospel on Netflix. This has, and continues, to change my faith and is bringing my focus back to the Word and the Gospel. Unfortunately, I signed up to review several books by authors I don’t necessarily agree with any longer. In fairness, I am still trying to read them for gold, but now I am seeing a lot of things I never would have saw before that I no longer agree with or I am questioning. I think it’s only fair that I tell you that and the bias I am coming from.
I really am trying to read these types of book and look for the gold, but my mind and heart has just changed so much that I am finding it difficult. I requested to review this book just as my heart was turning back toward the Gospel and I questioned whether I should review this book, but I figured it’s about the Word, how could this be bad?
Some of the ways the author uses scripture just seems really off to me. For example Isaiah 61:1-3 is about Jesus, not me, but the author used that as a decree for herself. To be honest, I did that at one point as well and now I see the error.
At another point the author talks about how we can “attract more sickness.” That sounds a bit New Age-y to me. Interesting enough the author came out of the New Age into being a Christian but some of the things she believes seem like New Age type beliefs.
I do believe in the power of scripture and I do believe it is important to know the Word of God but we must be careful how we are using the Word. Is it to get to know Jesus more or to get what we want? It should be all about Jesus.
When the author talks about receiving and delivering a decree she says the reason it may not happen is because of our lack of faith or a failure to believe. I used to swallow this and then would be so angry at God because I knew I was believing for healing and He didn’t do it. This led me down a very unhappy path but I am happy to say I no longer feel angry because I no longer feel entitled to anything. I am just grateful for the cross.
