If you pop over to my actual blog (for my subscribers) you will see I have a new look. I thought I needed an update, something that matched my “brand” of writing a bit more. Although the other one was fun it didn’t really go with my contemporary romance genre. Just wanted you to know you are still in the right place 🙂 Have a blessed day!
Once Upon a Prince by Rachel Hauck
Book Description
Once Upon a Prince, the first novel in the Royal Wedding series by bestselling author Rachel Hauck, treats you to a modern-day fairy tale.
Susanna Truitt never dreamed of a great romance or being treated like a princess—just to marry the man she has loved for twelve years. But life isn’t going according to plan. When her high-school-sweetheart-turned-Marine-officer breaks up instead of proposing, Susanna scrambles to rebuild her life.
The last thing Prince Nathaniel expects to find on his American holiday to St. Simon’s Island is the queen of his heart. A prince has duties, and his family’s tense political situation has chosen his bride for him. When Prince Nathaniel comes to Susanna’s aid under the fabled Lover’s Oak, he is blindsided by love.
Their lives are worlds apart. He’s a royal prince. She’s an ordinary girl. But everything changes when Susanna receives an invitation to Nathaniel’s coronation.
My thoughts and giveaway:
This is the first book I have read by Rachel Hauck. I have been wanting to read one of her books for a long time since I have heard wonderful things about her and when I saw this book up for review I grabbed it.
Now I am wondering why I waited so long to read her work.
This book had me flipping pages way past my bedtime (and I am a big baby about my sleep) but I couldn’t stop.
We are thrown immediately into the mess Susanna is dealing with — her long-time boyfriend telling her he can’t marry her.
What we see right a way is that Susanna has had a plan her whole life and she never wanted to deviate from that plan. So when Adam breaks up with her the plan gets all out of whack.
How many of you can relate to being a planner, especially with your life? I have been guilty of that myself but most of the time God has different plans. And Susanna soon finds out this is true for her.
But, as God often does, what the enemy wanted to use to harm Susanna God will use for good (Genesis 5020) and bring someone new into her life. She never dreamed it would be a prince.
My heart twisted in pain as I was swept away in the growing emotions between Susanna and Prince Nathaniel. How could it ever work out, there is so much standing in their way?
Well, you’ll have to read the book to see how everything plays out, trust me you won’t be sorry you invested your time reading this book. One of the best romances I have read so far this year.

“…Susanna has had a plan her whole life and she never wanted to deviate from that plan…” So true! How many of our plans go astray, we think, when actually God is getting us on the right plan for us?! Jeremiah 29:11.
